Are You In Tune With Nature?

Are You In Tune With Nature?

Nature has a natural rhythm of growth and conservation, do you? Winter is a time when most plants go dormant; it is a rest period that is crucial to their survival in order to regrow each year. Longer nights, cooler temperatures tell plants and animals to shelter inside and conserve energy for the growth that […]

Seashells Change with Time and so Do We

http://mindandbodymethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/sea-shell.jpgSeashells Change with Time and so Do We

I love walking on the beach and looking for seashells. When I was younger I always looked for the perfect shell, the one with no holes in it and fully intact. Now I really admire those that are imperfect, part of the shell has been washed away by the pounding surf or an animal has found its way in to feast on what was inside. These imperfect shells tell a story of time, challenges, persistent beauty and give it more character. I feel they are more beautiful than a perfect whole shell!

Do you think holistic therapies improve your patient care?

http://mindandbodymethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/100_5856-e1471907243303.jpgDo you think holistic therapies improve your patient care?

Medications alone don’t always relieve pain or anxiety in patients. Complementary or holistic therapies improve outcomes by helping to alleviate pain, decrease stress, anxiety and more! The patient’s feel “cared for” when someone gives them undivided attention even if it is just for 5 minutes.

Bring Peace and Relaxation to the Terminally Ill

http://mindandbodymethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/heavenly-light.jpgBring Peace and Relaxation to the Terminally Ill

There is a wonderful healing touch technique that assists people dealing with a terminal illness in many ways. First it helps to ease fear and anxiety producing a sense of peace, calm and relaxation. If they are restless, agitated or experiencing pain it helps to relax the physical body as well. When they are ready to leave the physical world it allows them to do so peacefully. I have taught healing touch to hospice personnel (chaplains, RNs and volunteers) and they feel it is a great adjunct to the services they offer patients. I have instructed family members and caregivers in this technique which helps them feel like they are “doing something to help” the person.

When a Habit Changes from Beneficial to Detrimental

http://mindandbodymethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/1970-s-retro-television-set-1411612-639x482.jpgWhen a Habit Changes from Beneficial to Detrimental

We all have habits, some are beneficial and others are not. Sometimes a habit that once served you well becomes troublesome and you would like to change it. Below is my story of when a habit changed from beneficial to detrimental and what I did about it.

Growing up TV was a source of comfort and companionship because both of my parents worked full time and my siblings were much older. It kept me company when no one else was home, it lulled me to sleep at times when I was feeling scared, it entertained me when no one else was around.

How I Create Serenity and Abundance in 15 Minutes a Day

http://mindandbodymethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/clouds-1198500-1279x905.jpgHow I Create Serenity and Abundance in 15 Minutes a Day

I love my morning meditation. It helps me to create serenity and tackle daily challenges without getting frantic or terribly upset. The visualizations assist me in creating joy and abundance in my life.

Most mornings I sit in bed for 15 – 20 minutes and clear my mind. I focus on my breath then ground and center myself. After that I stay (or try to stay) in the present moment for several minutes.

Gain Insights About Relationships Through Your Sacral Chakra

The second chakra is the sacral chakra and relates to feelings and emotions, especially one-on-one relationships. I would say 99.5% of women that come to see me for emotional pain have this chakra congested. This makes perfect sense if you are feeling scared, isolated, depressed or experiencing feelings of being disconnected from yourself or other people. This chakra is also associated with creativity, pleasure and sexuality.

My spirit was feeling disconnected, restless, and bored. My body felt ungrounded and uncentered. I wanted to go out in nature and do something different. A friend told me about Art in Nature happening that Sunday. I went and it was amazing! There were all types of musicians, dancers, artists, comedians spread out in the redwood regional park. All of it impacted me but I found a tribal dance to be VERY cathartic and the most healing.
