Are you feeling fearful or anxious? Have you been experiencing nausea, or feel like there is a “knot” or “ butterflies” in your stomach?  These symptoms may be your solar plexus expressing emotions through physical sensations.  It means you need to check-in with yourself and make time for some self-love.

 Your solar plexus (the third chakra) is associated with the ego, self-esteem, personal power, personality, and physically the digestive system (stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas).  Yellow is the color of this chakra and it is related to the mind and intellect.  Its dominant element is fire but air also resides here.

 Worry, anxiety, and fears of all sorts can make you feel powerless or less-than creating an imbalance or depletion in the chakra.  Your chakra is strong and balanced when you feel a strong sense of personal power, have high self-esteem, and are digesting well.

 Here are a few symptoms of an unbalanced or weak solar plexus:

 Shallow, rapid breathing

Constricting feeling in your stomach area (knot) – This and the above are like contracting in on yourself to protect against the outside world.

Nausea or vomiting, especially if it occurs when thinking about a particular situation.

There are many ways to energize and balance this chakra which will decrease your fear and anxiety.  Then you will be able to think clearer, stand in your power, and take actions toward resolving the fearful or anxiety-producing situations.

 Here are ways to energize your solar plexus:

  • Wear the color yellow
  • Eat foods with violet, blue, or indigo skin such as eggplant, purple cauliflower, purple carrots, purple sweet potatoes, blueberries, acai berries, blackberries, passionfruit, purple cabbage. The reason for this is yellow foods absorb light from all colors of the spectrum except yellow, which it reflects.  Therefore you need to eat foods with violet, blue or indigo skin because they have absorbed yellow light.
  • Perform a visualization using an image of something yellow. Here are a few examples:                              Imagine a sunflower blossoming, see the petals slowly opening and radiating the color yellow throughout your chakra, then your entire body.  See the beauty, feel its strength as it stands tall swaying with the wind but not breaking, feel the peace and joy it brings.                                                          Picture a bright sun in your solar plexus, feel its heat.  Now imagine it is burning away all fears and emotions that are no longer serving you for your highest good.   Allow the rays to radiate out into your entire body, warming you and filling you with energy.
  • Do sit-ups, martial arts, or other invigorating exercises.
  • Dancing with fast, vigorous movements of the arms and legs.
